The Duncan Topper is a hat created by Mizz Grizz's older son Duncan. It is
appropriate for men or women. The narrow brimmed asymmetrical top hats are
perfect for wear to the office as a fashion statement or as the final touch to
your personal attire when participating in a, Pirate Festival, or Renaissance
Faire. The crown measures from about 6" down to about 4" and the brim is
trimmed to about 3".

Like all Lil Grizz Hats, these original hats are totally hand made. Lil Grizz
and Mizz Grizz block their fur felt hats without a blocking machine using
pre-1800 methods. They also do all the final shaping of the crown and brim with
only steam and a touch of their skilled hands. Therefore, each hat has a one of
a kind look instead of being exactly like another of the same style. Lil
Grizz's signature pencil curl is not just a decorative touch. It is necessary
to maintain the strength of the brim since we do not use a steam press or bind
or welt the brim.

Their unique comfort sweatband is made of an absorbent material that is
covered with cotton cloth for a comfortable custom fit. The signature pencil
curl on the brim strengthens the brim in the traditional manner as well as
adding a touch of class to your new treasure. ... And don't worry about going
out in the rain.... It is a working hat and safe for wear in all types of
weather.

All our hats are custom made to fit your head instead of just made to a hat
size. You will need to measure your head to the nearest 1/8th of inch using a
sewing tape measure. It is best to have a second person to help you get an

If you have had trouble getting a hat to fit properly or you know that your
head is a long oval please also send us a photo of the to top of your head
using the customer comments section of the order form. (A simple cell phone
picture will be fine.)

NOTE: Hats By Grizz does not supply any outer hat bands as there are too many
options and we feel that a customer's hatband is a personal statement.

NOTE: Due to our use of the wood stove, antique non-mechanized tools,
traditional methods and hand shaping each hat will have variations of shape and
will arrive with a slightly distressed look and feel. If you are looking for a
spot-less hat that is absolutely identical to the photo then we are not the
best choice for your purchase......However....if you are looking for a hat that
is legendary in fit and style for a reasonable price then we are the best
choice for your purchase!
