We admire the low-key elegance of this antique stick pin. Meant to be worn on
a lapel or a hat, it is, we suppose, a badge of wealth, but so subtle that it
seems all about beauty instead. It likely dates back to the Art Deco era, when
clean, architectural lines broke away from the heavily decorated Edwardian era
and defined a radically new concept called modernism.

This handsome piece is centered on a six-sided, faceted amethyst. The gem
shines brightly in its pronged setting and is a rich lavender color. It is
surrounded by a five-sided band of textured gold that comes to a point at the
bottom; there, nestled at the tip, is a single seed pearl. The side of the
stick is marked 14K; there is a maker's mark that looks like the outline of a
human eye.

Condition at the top gem area is excellent. However, the stick pin cover/guard
is not original, and there is a bit of discoloration on the stick near the
bottom end.
