A Vintage Early 20th Century Art Nouveau Hat Pin, Dark Silver Tone with Vivid Blue and Green Enameled Design

A vintage Art Nouveau hat pin featuring a round top with blue and green
enameling, circa 1910. The decorative element at the top measures 26 mm wide
and 12.5 mm deep--it is a silver tone base metal that was likely originally
silver plated. It is accented with four slightly recessed scroll design
elements that have vivid green and blue enameling inlaid. The pin stem is steel
and measures 9 3/4-inches long. Total length is 10 1/4-inches (including the
design element at the top). This is a longer pin, that allows pretty accurate
dating. Women began wearing large hats around the turn of the century and
needed longer pins to keep them in place. This trend ended in the 1920's with
the change in fashion (and smaller hats). Condition is very good; the metal has
oxidized which is consistent with age and use. If you are interested in

confident in my ability to assess stones, metal, construction, etc. I use the

cleaned, if possible, unless the process will damage or alter their natural
